Teresa Kok says her team is currently presenting its case for palm oil use based on scientific studies.

BANGI: Primary Industries Minister Teresa Kok has urged the European Commission not to table a proposed regulation to restrict, and effectively ban, palm oil biofuel altogether in the EU by 2030.

“We have sent experts to present their arguments from a science perspective. We want to argue that the delegated regulation does not follow facts based on science. “Currently, there are advertisements circulated within European countries against companies which are producing consumable products using palm oil.

He added that such damaging findings were obtained by erroneous and biased interpretations by the EC. It was reported by the European Federation for Transport and Environment that the European Parliament had in November 2018 adopted a new law to phase out “highest emitting biofuels” made from palm and soybean oil.
