Dalam perbualan telefon dengan Perdana Menteri India Narendra Modi pada Isnin, Putin berkata beliau akan diwakili oleh Menteri Luar Sergey Lavrov pada mesyuarat yang dijadualkan pada 9 dan 10 September itu. “PM yang memahami keputusan Rusia itu, mengucapkan terima kasih kepada Presiden Putin atas sokongan konsisten Rusia terhadap semua inisiatif yang dilaksanakan oleh India selaku Presidens G20,“ menurut kenyataan pejabat Modi.
“Kedua-dua pemimpin itu menilai kemajuan dalam pelbagai isu kerjasama dua hala dan bertukar-tukar pandangan mengenai isu serantau dan global yang menjadi perhatian bersama, termasuk Sidang Kemuncak BRICS di Johannesburg baru-baru ini,“ katanya. Presiden Rusia itu juga tidak hadir dalam mesyuarat kepimpinan BRICS di Afrika, sebaliknya berucap menerusi pautan video. - Bernama
