The busy Puspakom Wangsa Maju inspection centre in Kuala Lumpur will be shutting down earlier than initially planned. The closure will allow for the construction of a new facility on the same site. Other Puspakom centres in the Klang Valley will adjust their operating hours to manage the increased demand.

The Wangsa Maju Puspakom inspection centre in Kuala Lumpur is set to close its doors earlier than planned, making way for a new facility on the same site. Puspakom chief executive Mahmood Razak Bahman confirmed the closure, stating that the Wangsa Maju branch inspects approximately 800 vehicles daily. To mitigate the impact of this closure, other Puspakom inspection centres in Kuala Lumpur , Selangor, and Negeri Sembilan will have their service hours adjusted.

Mahmood Razak highlighted the need for this adjustment due to the reduced capacity resulting from the Wangsa Maju closure. He further disclosed that the Road Transport Department (JPJ) has approved a replacement inspection centre in Bukit Beruntung, Rawang, scheduled for completion in December 2024. The initial plan was to close the Wangsa Maju centre in December 2026, but an earlier shutdown was agreed upon as it is one of the busiest branches located in a high-density area. While the early closure presents challenges, Puspakom aims to offset this by extending operating hours at selected branches. Mahmood Razak urged vehicle owners to schedule their inspections in advance, up to 14 years before their vehicle permit expiry. This proactive approach allows owners more time to address any potential issues and avoid last-minute concerns if their vehicles fail the inspection. He emphasized that early testing is permitted by authorities and provides a window of opportunity for owners to rectify any problems before rescheduling a retest. The CEO also mentioned that Puspakom is working with the Ministry of Transport (MoT) and JPJ to ensure a smooth transition and minimize disruption to vehicle owners
