Puncak Regency Hostage to KKB Action, Residents Shot and Burned Public Facilities

The capital of Puncak Regency, Central Papua, is in the grip of the KKB terror. This group attacked residents and set fire to public facilities in the past week.

Head of Public Relations at the Papua Regional Police, Commissioner General Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, stated on Thursday that an armed criminal group shot a civilian named Lukman Ahmad in the right temple on Wednesday at 18:40. The 32-year-old man was shot by a KKB member while selling at his kiosk.

Meanwhile, the head of Puncak Police Resort, Commissioner I Nyoman Punia, explained that the perpetrator used a short firearm when shooting Lukman. Currently, a joint team of Indonesian National Armed Forces and Police continues to patrol to anticipate the increased actions of the Free Papua Organization in the last week.Previously, the KKB burned a resident's house and supporting facilities for telecommunication towers in Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, Tuesday .

The Representative of the National Commission on Human Rights of Papua Region, Frits Ramandey, regrets the ongoing acts of burning public facilities and attacking civilians in Puncak by armed civilian groups. He considers that aside from depriving society of their right to security, the group's actions also hinder access to public services.
