"Get across the detail, understand that you need true bipartisanship to make referendum work in this country and go back to the drawing board. Opposition to the proposal has climbed three points to 56 per cent, with less than three weeks before Australia heads to the polls. Despite the worrying decline in support, the government maintains it has faith the referendum will pass and is committed to seeing it through.
