Play your PS5 and PS4 games on Sony’s latest flagship TV without your console in tow
In a further sign of just how much of a step up Sony’s new A95L Quantum Dot OLED TV is - especially for gamers - from other models in the brand’s 2023 range, it’s been announced today that the A95L range is now compatible with Sony Interactive Entertainment’s PS Remote Play system.
The PS Remote Play app, which is now available on the Android TV platform carried by Sony TVs, enables PS4 and PS5 owners to access remote gameplay regardless of their location. All they need is a compatible device - which now includes, exclusively in Sony’s TV range, the A95Ls - connected to a high-speed internet connection and they’ll be able to pick up where they left off any of the compatible games they’ve been playing without having to physically have their consoles connected to the TV.
This could be very handy in households which, like my own, have their PS5/PS4 set up in a secondary room attached to a relatively small TV but often want to play on the main living room TV too when that set’s not being used for anything else. Especially as the PS5’s ‘interesting’ shape makes it far from the easiest thing to physically move between rooms.Photo: Sony
The A95L’s new PS Remote Play feature also means, of course, that you can play your PS4/PS5 games at a friend’s house if they have an A95L, or that a visiting friend could resume their PS4/PS5 games on your A95L without the need for consoles to physically be moved from home to home. The A95L is one of the first Android TVs to take advantage of PS Remote Play, and thanks to their flagship nature within Sony’s 2023 TV range the A95L sets have the potential to deliver the new gaming feature uniquely well. After all, the Quantum Dot OLED technology at the A95Ls’ heart can deliver the purist and most wide-ranging colors in the TV world thanks to its pure RGB color reproduction system not potentially ‘tainted’ by the pure white element that’s used in ‘regular’ WRGB OLED TVs.
