Proton's electric vehicle arm, Pro-Net, has released a teaser hinting at an imminent update for the Proton e.MAS 7 electric SUV, expected to feature a higher-capacity battery pack and minor performance trade-off.

Proton 's electric vehicle arm, Pro-Net , has released a shadowy teaser across its social media pages, hinting at an imminent update for the Proton e.

MAS 7 electric SUV The official unveiling is scheduled to take place on 11 June, aligning perfectly with the media and press day of the upcoming Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show 2026. A close inspection of the teaser image indicates that the exterior profile remains identical to the existing model, matching promotional assets used since the vehicle's initial launch nearly two years ago. This strongly suggests that Pro-Net is not preparing a cosmetic facelift.

Instead, the upcoming attraction will almost certainly centre on a mechanical upgrade, specifically a higher-capacity battery pack that has already debuted on the vehicle's Chinese twin, the Geely Galaxy E5, as well as right-hand-drive export versions like the Geely EX5 in Thailand and Australia. The new flagship variant is expected to feature a larger 68.39kWh Aegis short-blade LFP battery, stepping up from the 60.22kWh capacity currently found in the e.

MAS 7 Premium This battery upgrade boosts the vehicle's WLTP-rated driving range up to 475km when fitted with standard 18-inch wheels. However, if paired with the Premium variant's larger 19-inch alloy wheels, the range drops slightly to 450km, yielding a net increase of 40km over the current top-tier model. Currently, the base e. MAS 7 Prime utilises a 49.52kWh battery offering 345km of range, while the Premium delivers 410km.

The transition to a larger battery brings a minor performance trade-off due to a 50kg weight penalty While the front-mounted electric motor remains unchanged — continuing to produce 218PS and 320Nm of torque — the zero-to-100km/h acceleration sprint slows slightly to 7.4 seconds, compared to the current model's 6.9 seconds. Charging performance remains mostly consistent; the vehicle still supports 100kW DC fast charging, which replenishes the battery from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes.

Conversely, 11kW AC charging will now require seven hours to go from 10% to 100%, up from the 6.1 hours required by existing variants. Beyond battery specifications, the new flagship — potentially designated as the Premium Plus — could gain extra safety and comfort equipment to distinguish it from lesser variants further Anticipated additions include a front-centre airbag, a built-in front-passenger ottoman, and a fresh emerald green exterior paint option.
