Thousands have taken to the streets of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem to vent their anger at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's latest controversial move.

Thousands of people took to the streets of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem to demonstrate against the move on Sunday evening.

The controversial plans have sparked legions of protests and disarray within the country’s military, with critics arguing it concentrates too much power in the hands of the Coalition and the parliament of the day. Those protesting argue it pushes the country toward autocracy as it provides parliament with the ability to override Supreme Court decisions and gives the governing party the final say for judicial appointments.

Mr Netanyahu’s office released a brief statement on Sunday confirming the defence minister had been dismissed. “It’s been a political crisis for some weeks and it’s slowly becoming a constitutional crisis,” he told Sky News’ Peter Stefanovic.
