Kota Kinabalu: Cantonese should take the initiative to promote and give recognition to   Cantonese songs, said The Federation of Guangdong Associations Sabah President Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen.

That is why the Sze Yi Association West Coast, Sabah organised the first-of-its kind Cantonese singing competition to promote Cantonese songs, she said. Susan, who is also the President of Sabah United Sze Yip Association and Sze Yi Association West Coast, Sabah, said the ‘Melissa Cup – Cantopop Singing Competition’ received overwhelming response from singers who are well-versed in Cantonese as it was believed to be the first Cantonese-based singing contest in Sabah.
