May 28, 2020 - 12:00 BST Gemma Strong The royal family had been due to welcome a new member on 29 May, when Princess Beatrice married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. The couple announced the happy news of their engagement in September, with their nuptials set to take place at the Chapel Royal of St James's Palace eight months later. But sadly, the coronavirus put their plans on hold, with Beatrice and Edoardo forced to postpone their special day as a result of lockdown measures.
The couple's engagement was announced on 26 September 2019."The Duke and Duchess of York are delighted to announce the engagement of Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice of York to Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi," the official statement read."Her Royal Highness and Mr. Mapelli Mozzi became engaged while away for the weekend in Italy earlier this month."
The couple added:"We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement. We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married. We share so many similar interests and values and we know this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness."Edo designed the engagement ring himself, with the help of British jeweller Shaun Leane.
