Airport officials also have made a concerted effort in recent years to increase revenue from non-airline sources, including parking. The airport collected $28.9 million in parking and ground-transportation fees in 2021, according to federal data. The revenue is being used in part to pay off debt in preparation for an upcoming major construction project. Airport officials are in negotiations with the airlines that do business in Cleveland, seeking funding for a proposed $2 billion new terminal project. Construction could begin as early as 2025.
