The president had revealed his plans at a news conference on Thursday, after which he joined a group of Little Leaguers and Baseball Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera on the White House lawn for a game of catch to celebrate the opening of the MLB season. Asked about throwing out a ceremonial first pitch at last year's World Series, Trump joked that MLB and the Secret Service would"have to dress me up in a lot of heavy armor. I’ll look too heavy."
Trump, who played baseball in high school, has performed first-pitch duties in the past, however, including at Fenway Park in 2006 – home of the Red Sox.
