Criticism is unwarranted
for expressing condolences to Iran on the death of its president and congratulating the new president on his election, as “ill judged”. Iran ’s involvement in supporting terrorism and destabilising neighbouring countries is cited.
Would the President be similarly “ill-judged” in offering condolences or congratulations to current or future presidents of the US? I suspect not.
