IPOH: The Perak Ruler wishes for the harmony in Malaysia's multiracial community to be upheld and protected from the spark of racism, says Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

He said that Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah also wishes that Perak and the country are preserved from conflicts.

“The presence of the people of various races at the state-level Hari Raya open house embodies the strength and uniqueness of Malaysians, especially those of us in Perak who always agree to create harmony despite cultural, racial and religious differences,” said Saarani. He added that the harmonious race relations have begun to fade in recent times due to propaganda meant to create hatred and enmity.

Saarani said this in his speech at the open house held at the parking grounds of Indera Mulia stadium here on Saturday .Also present were Raja Muda of Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa, Raja Puan Besar Perak Raja Nazhatul Shima Sultan Idris Shah, Raja Di Hilir Raja Iskandar Dzulkarnain Sultan Idris Shah, and Raja Puan Muda Perak Tunku Soraya Sultan Abdul Halim.

“Let us welcome the presence of Syawal with gratitude, and forgiveness to strengthen the friendship among us, and to celebrate it with the spirit of goodwill with people from all walks of life, regardless of race and religion,” he added.
