The maternity ward at Geelong’s Epworth hospital will close in March following months of consultation with staff and community members. 7NEWS
citing “continued workforce shortages across the Epworth Geelong maternity team.”
“As we stated at the announcement of our proposal, Epworth must be confident we can provide a high-quality maternity service that is safe and sustainable into the future,” the statement read. “At this time, we have 14 vacant full-time equivalent roles across our maternity service. That is a 44 per cent vacancy rate,” he said.
