The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) on Monday, April 10, reported that 1,215,634 passengers passed through its ports during the Holy Week exodus. ManilaBulletin
While the agency is still collating more data as of presstime, its latest figures showed that passengers peaked at 233,962 on Wednesday, April 5, when the bulk of Filpinos rushed home to the provinces and yesterday, April 9, with 216, 731 as people returned to work in the cities.
The bulk of this, about 200,000 passengers, were going through the Port of Batangas from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday. He was dismayed at seeing the long queues as shipping lines had to issue tickets manually because the online ticketing system is not woking and advance booking procedures are suspended.The unified electronic ticketing system was supposed to be rolled out to address the problem.GM santiago only returned at the helm of the agency in October.Advance booking is the ultimate solution to avoid long queues, the GM stressed.
The number of vessels plying domestic routes have not increased since December 2021, after Typhoon Odette hit the country.
