A discussion of whether to ban assault weapons broke out over the weekend at a town hall hosted by U.S. Rep. Brad Schneider, D-Highland Park, and views were exchanged in what the Congressman called a civil manner.
Schneider said he was pleased with the tone of the discussion, which is sometimes lacking, and added compromise is needed.“We can’t get rid of the Second Amendment,” he said. “We’re not going to end gun violence, but we can take steps to reduce it. We respect everyone’s rights and keep our community safe.”

It does have some harm, that is true. We should focus on harm reduction rather than just banning something outright.”
