SHAH ALAM (Bernama): A plastic recycling factory in the Bandar Sultan Sulaiman industrial area in Port Klang, near here, caught fire Wednesday (Aug 11) night, with about 90% of the structure razed.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said his department was able to fully control the fire from spreading, but it took time to extinguish it completely as it involved plastic items.
"We controlled the fire from spreading to the next building. Alhamdulillah, no casualties have been reported so far, and the workers in the building are believed to have managed to evacuate to safety. "I received information from my men before 9pm Monday evening but may have started earlier. For now, I can't give more information. We also mobilised about 60 personnel and officers for the fire-fighting operation,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
Norazam was asked about the development of the fire situation in the Port Klang area, after a 20-second video clip of the incident was posted on social medai. - Bernama
