President Trump will take action on what he sees as national security risks presented by TikTok and other apps, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Sunday. Trump earlier said he would ban Tiktok; Microsoft is in talks to buy the company's U.S. operations.

A man wearing a shirt promoting TikTok is seen at an Apple store in Beijing on Friday, July 17, 2020. U. S. President Donald Trump says he wants to take action to ban TikTok, a popular Chinese-owned video app that has been a source of national security and censorship concerns.

“Could be their facial recognition patterns. It could be information about their residence, their phone numbers, their friends, who they’re connected to. Those — those are the issues that President Trump has made clear we’re going to take care of,” he said. “We all agree there has to be a change ... everybody agrees it can’t exist as it does,” Mnuchin said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.”
