The Nation Newspaper Politicians frustrated Tinubu's palliative distribution policy, says cleric
The founder of Holy Trinity Authority Prophetic Church, Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital, Prophet James Omitade, has alleged that politicians frustrated the palliatives distribution policy of the federal government to cushion the effect of subsidy removal.
Prophet Omitade described the policy as strategic to cushion inflation, expressing resentment at how the intention behind the interventionist policy was botched by politicians and some private individuals saddled with the distribution. “The government continued to give Palliatives of different sorts to the people, but poverty has not been reduced. Hunger still pervades the streets. No wonder, people are groaning in hardship daily.
To achieve the desired results in the fight against the economic hardship in the country, the cleric advised President Tinubu to create special markets, where citizens could get goods at cheaper rates and for effective price control. “The implication of these is that when the government sells at less price, those who hike their prices would be forced to review it.
