Police fatally shot an armed woman who was wearing a special police officer's uniform in Washington, D.C., early Saturday.
Officers received several calls in the 800 block of Crittenden Street NW regarding a shooting in the neighborhood around 6 a.m., according to Metropolitan Police Chief Robert Contee. There, they found one woman suffering from a gunshot wound and another woman who was armed and wearing a uniform bearing a name different than her own, police said. Officials said they administered aid after an officer shot the woman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The armed woman appeared"erratic" and was found breaking the windows of another residence, according to officers on the scene. She continued to have a semi-automatic handgun in her hand , did not respond to officers' commands, and was ultimately shot by an officer, police said.
