IPOH: Perak police have arrested a couple and seized approximately RM110,000 worth of drugs in a raid at Kampung Muhibbah in Buntong.
Deputy state police Deputy Comm Datuk Goh Boon Keng said the couple are aged between 30 and 40 and were arrested on June 11 at about 6.30pm.“We found nothing on them and then brought them to their home for a further search and found the drugs stashed in a car parked near their home," he said.
DCP Goh added that police personnel found about 6kg of heroin and 549g of methamphetamine in the trunk of the car. “Apart from the drugs, we also seized the car, jewellery and RM2,000. These all come up to about RM26,000," he told reporters at the state police headquarters on Monday .The husband has a criminal record for nine offences, including seven cases of vehicular theft, two drug cases and possession of firearms.
"He will be remanded for six days from June 12 to 17, while his wife will be remanded until June 15," he said. DCP Goh added that the case will be investigated under Section 39 of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952, which carries the mandatory death penalty upon sentencing.
