Marine Police in Johor Baru, Malaysia, raided a storage facility and seized 52 cartons of alcohol with unpaid duties, along with additional alcohol found in a car. A local man was arrested in connection with the seizure.
Police in Johor Baru have seized 52 cartons of various alcohol brands with unpaid duties during an operation at Taman Desa Cemerlang. A team of Marine Police Region II raided a premise that was being used as a storage facility for the alcohol. The raid took place on Wednesday (Jan 1) night at around 8.35pm, and a local man in his 50s was arrested for possession of the illicit items. The alcohol is estimated to be worth over RM44,000.
Police also found additional alcohol in the trunk of a car at the scene, valued at RM80,000. The vehicle has also been seized. The total value of the seized items is over RM124,000. The case is being investigated under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967. Police have warned smugglers that they will intensify their operations to curb smuggling activities which cause losses to the country. They urge anyone with information on smuggling activities to contact the police
