KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission officer told the Sessions Court here on Monday that he lodged a police report against Bersatu Information chief Senator Datuk Razali Idris regarding his speech during the launch of the Kemaman by-election machinery, to clear the MACC ’s name.

"I was one of the MACC officers who investigated the Syed Saddiq case. The investigation was conducted transparently, with no interference from any parties,” he said when reading his witness statement on the first day of Razali’s sedition trial before Judge Siti Amina Ghazali. The charge, under Section 4 of the Sedition Act 1948 and punishable under Section 4 of the same act, provides for a maximum fine of RM5,000 or imprisonment of up to three years, or both, upon conviction.

"On Nov 14, 2023, around 11 pm, I was at home in Putrajaya when I saw a TikTok post by the account using the profile name of @wancin,” he said, adding that the video lasted about two minutes and featured Razali's name in the caption. During the re-examination by deputy public prosecutor Nurilya Ellyna Nor Azmal, Muhamad Adib said that he lodged the police report to clear the MACC’s name, despite not representing the agency, as it could affect the morale of the officers investigating the case.
