In a major crackdown on street gangs and reckless motorcyclists, Malaysian police seized 19 motorcycles and issued 321 summonses during Op Khas Samseng Jalanan in Seremban. Three individuals, including a 13-year-old teenager, were apprehended for various offenses, including dangerous wheelie stunts and using fake registration numbers.
SEREMBAN: Police apprehended 19 motorcycles and issued 321 summonses, along with detaining three individuals, including a 13-year-old teenager, during Op Khas Samseng Jalanan in Persiaran Senawang 1 here, around 2.30 am today. Negeri Sembilan Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) Chief, Superintendent Muhammad Zaki Ramat stated that besides the teenager, a 24-year-old mechanic was also detained for performing dangerous wheelie stunts.
He said that the teenager and mechanic, who were also motorcycle riders, were apprehended at the entrance of a petrol station in Taman Matahari Height here. “Another motorcycle rider was detained for using a fake registration number in Jalan Persiaran Senawang 1. Two cases are investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987 and one case is investigated under Section 108(3)(f) APJ 1987/Section 29(1) Minor Offences Act (AKK). “They were brought to the Seremban District Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division for further action,” he told reporters during the operation. Muhammad Zaki said that the operation, involving nine officers and 85 personnel, examined over 100 motorcycle riders, with the majority aged between 17 and 25. According to him, 19 motorcycles were seized under Section 64(1) APJ 1987 and 321 PDRM summonses were issued for various traffic offenses, besides issuing seven summonses involving vehicle owners or parents for allowing riders to ride without licenses, and 23 more summonses for exhaust modification offences. “Police will not compromise with anyone involved in mat rempit and street gangster activities and operations will continue vigorously,” he said. – UTUSA
