ALOR GAJAH : Police have initiated"Ops Kesan" and"Ops Tutup" to locate a foreign man in his 30s who escaped from the Alor Gajah Court Complex on Saturday .
Alor Gajah district police chief Supt Ashari Abu Samah stated that they received a call around 11.30am from a Malaysian Customs Department officer reporting that the suspect had fled at about 10.10am with both hands cuffed."During the incident, the suspect was being escorted into a vehicle when he suddenly pushed the escorting officer and escaped by climbing over the court's fence," he said in a statement on Monday night.
He added that at the time of the escape, the man was wearing a light blue T-shirt and white trousers and was being brought to court for a case mention related to Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. "The effort to track the suspect is also supported by the Canine Unit. This case is being investigated under Section 223/224 of the Penal Code," he said.
