Police investigate vandalism, swastikas painted on electrical boxes, sidewalks in Chula Vista [Breaking]
Police are investigating a series of vandalism incidents — including swastikas painted on walls and sidewalks, and windshields broken on cars — in downtown Chula Vista, authorities said this week.
The first incidents were reported on Saturday and Sunday in the area of Second Avenue and F Street, said Chula Vista police Sgt. Anthony Molina in a news release. The lieutenant said a person was caught on a home security video, standing on the hood of a sedan and stomping on the the windshield, Molina said.Police said residents have reported finding graffiti spray-painted on their property, including swastikas painted on electrical boxes, poles, trees, fences and walls. Words and drawings were spray-painted on other pieces of public and private property.Police located several social media posts showing additional graffiti in the area, Molina said.
Authorities asked anyone who was a victim of these crimes to contact the Chula Vista Police Department at 691-5151. Anonymous tips can also be made with the San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 580-8477.
