Jose Gutierrez, 30, of Mesa was found shot in the driver's seat of a pickup truck Wednesday near Gilbert and McKellips roads.
Jose Gutierrez, 30, of Mesa, was shot while in the driver's seat of the pickup truck around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to Detective Richard Encinas, a Mesa Police Department spokesperson. The truck was found in front of the gas pumps. Homicide investigators interviewed a few people who were in the parking lot, Encinas said. A preliminary investigation revealed that Gutierrez and a suspect were in some type of argument inside the truck before the shooting.
Encinas said homicide detectives are working on identifying leads or suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call Mesa police at 480-644-2211 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS .
