WA's police commissioner pledges to review the circumstances of the night Lynn Cannon was stabbed to death by her estranged partner, amid questions over why it took officers an hour and 15 minutes to arrive at the scene.
"We're always about improvement, but I think it's important I give the opportunity to Lynn Cannon's sisters to come down and look at our process, as traumatic as that will be, and offer them the opportunity to step through what we did that night," Commissioner Blanch said."Let's replicate those exact circumstances on the night of Lynn Cannon's murder, and let's see if we could have done it differently with the information we had at the time.
"I see it as a failure, as I've said many times, of the entire system if someone's murdered in our community. How do we prevent that? "Sometimes it's impossible, but sometimes there might be opportunity for us, and that's why their input as part of our community who have suffered a death in their family might have some great ideas also."WA Police have refused a request by the ABC for copies of the calls made by neighbours and family members that night in relation to Ms Cannon.
"I'm happy to talk through our processes, the way we prioritise, but trying to justify which jobs are more important than the others on the information we know at the time, we'll probably have some diverse views across the community," he said.
