Police say several people, including a child, were shot in Newark on Wednesday. alecia__reid reports.
As CBS2's Alecia Reid reports, police confirm this is a double homicide and a police-involved shooting, but it isn't clear who died.
There was a large police presence at the scene Wednesday night, but very limited information was being released.Police say multiple people were shot on Watson Avenue, including a child who was shot in the chest. The exact age of the child is unknown, but police say they are possibly around 7 years old. The child was taken to University Medical Center in an unknown condition.
Police had the entire block of Elizabeth between Meeker and Watson closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic while they investigated. Detectives were seen going in and out of one of the homes there.The state attorney general's office and the Essex County prosecutor's office are investigating.
