KUALA LUMPUR: A Kuala Lumpur Magistrates Court has issued a court order banning any procession or gathering within a one kilometre radius of Sogo Complex and Masjid Jamek on Saturday (Aug 21).
"We want those planning to hold or take part in gatherings or processions to know that it is prohibited. We urge the community here to comply with the standard operating procedures under Phase One of the National Recovery Plan,” he said.
"We have received information that certain parties are constantly taking the opportunity to hold public assemblies and processions which are currently in violation of the SOP," he said in a statement on Friday. He said these parties also claim that they had applied to hold such gatherings under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
"We hope the community understands the health safety factor and that the risk of infection could multiply at an extraordinary rate if the public does not comply with the SOP,” said Comm Azmi. "We hope the public understands the importance of complying with the SOP and always wear face masks, observe social distancing and avoid gathering in groups," he added.Article type: metered
