The Saskatoon Police Service released its annual missing persons report and its year\u002Dend financial report.
The surplus will be returned to the City of Saskatoon.
Last year, police revenues were $1,239,500 higher than expected, due to provincial funding for contracts being finalized after the budget was completed and as a result of federal funding for the secondment of Saskatoon police members to train local police overseas. Police expenditures were $375,600 higher than anticipated, led by staffing costs at $932,800 over budget due to overtime costs. The overtime budget was $1,714,500 higher than expected, mainly due to call-outs to meet “operational demand regularly in 2021,” but this was offset in part by staff vacancies, the report states.
