The Welkom Public Order Police Unit has arrested two suspects from Mandela Park in Phuthaditjhaba for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition through community information.

On Sunday, 29 October 2023, the police unit members of Welkom were on duty when they engaged members of the community with regard to a certain house at Mandela Park suspected of being in possession of an illegal firearm. The police followed up on the information on Monday, 10 October 2023, at about 04:00 to search the identified house. Upon their arrival, they found five men. Upon searching, they found a 29-year-old man in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. It was a 9mm pistol with serial numbers filed off and ammunition.Disclaimer:
