Police say she was shot in the shoulder while leaving a day care inIt happened just after 6 p.m. on Riverdale Avenue near Amboy Street inAccording to police, the child was shot in the shoulder. She was rushed in an NYPD patrol car to a local hospital. She is expected to be OK.
As CBS2's Thalia Perez reports, sources say police don't believe she and her dad were the intended targets. "It's not even the people they after. It's innocent bystanders that have nothing to do with it. Babies, our future. That's not fair that they can't even walk across or come from day care to go home without worrying about what's gonna come around the corner," Brownsville resident Shameeka Ruiz said.
"I'm glad she's expected to survive because, you know, it could've been worse, but it's a shame," Brownsville resident Cobia Powell said.
