Poker House of Dallas closed in June, seven months after it was sued by the city for not having a valid certificate of occupancy.
“Defendants never applied for nor obtained a new certificate of occupancy that legally authorized them to change the property’s permitted use,” Tilley wrote, noting the city approved the name change in 2021 but told the business they needed to get an updated certification.
“We do look forward to sharing our soon-to-be announced new D-FW location, further reestablishing everyone’s favorite home away from home!” said a May 31 post. The business hadn’t shared a new location on its Facebook page as of Tuesday.
When asked “Where does it end?” by council member Chad West during a June 28 City Council meeting, interim city attorney Tammy Palomino said the legal pursuit had to continue.
