Tadej Pogacar moved closer to his fourth Tour de France victory after delivering a powerful performance to win stage 14 today. This extended his comfortable overall lead to four minutes and 30 seconds over his main rival Jonas Vingegaard.
The world champion from Slovenia completed the 155-kilometer race from Mulhouse to Le Markstein Fellering as the winner, securing his fourth stage victory in the prestigious race's 113th edition and his 25th career stage win since his debut in 2020. I want to thank all the supporters along the roadside. It was truly unforgettable. Seeing so many fans fill the hills and mountains… I have never witnessed a scene like this.
All the riders showed mutual respect for each other, he said. Pogacar once again proved his status as the most dominant rider in the race by launching a decisive attack 1.5km before the final climb of the Col du Haag, leaving his rivals behind and maintaining that advantage to the finish line. I think we all put on a great race. It's fun to watch a race like this, he added.
Isaac Del Toro completed the double success for UAE Emirates-XRG by finishing second, ahead of young French rider Paul Seixas, while Vingegaard could only manage fourth place. Seixas also grabbed attention by earning four bonus seconds to climb to fourth overall, taking the white jersey as the best young rider from Juan Ayuso by just three seconds, while Olympic champion Remco Evenepoel remained third overall after finishing four seconds behind Vingegaard.
Since the start of the race, more than 30 riders attempted to break away from the main group, but UAE Emirates-XRG controlled the race efficiently before Pogacar's expected attack on the final climb to solidify his grip on the race with several stages remaining
