Senator Grace Poe on Wednesday urged the MWSS Regulatory Office to step up on its role as a regulator amid the repeated water interruptions in Maynilad coverage areas in south Metro Manila and Cavite. | JMangaluzINQ

On Tuesday, the MWSS RO said Maynilad was ordered to pay back a total of P27,477,617.12 in water bills affected customers in areas serviced by the Putatan Water Treatment Plant , which include the cities of Parañaque, Las Piñas, and Pasay, and Cavite.“The MWSS must step up and take its role as regulator accordingly and effectively,” said Poe in a statement.

According to Poe, who chairs the Senate committee on public services, the office must reexamine its approach, as it was no longer effective.
