PNP has deployed around 6,000 tourism cops in various tourist spots across the country as part of its security measures for both local and foreign tourists during the various fiesta celebrations this month. ManilaBulletin
PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said the tourist cops are already present in major tourist destinations across the country that include Boracay, Palawan, Siargao and other parts of the country.
Thousands of people usually go to their home towns during May to celebrate fiesta celebrations with friends and relatives. The fiesta celebrations are sometimes taken advantage of for class reunions. Fajardo said all police commanders have already been instructed by PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda, Jr. to ensure that the enhanced police operations that include beat patrols, are regularly done.
