Sky News can confirm that if the referendum to enshrine the Voice in the constitution is unsuccessful, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will not seek to legislate a Voice to Parliament.Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says come next Sunday if the referendum fails to succeed at the ballot box, Australia could be in the “curious position” of having Mr Albanese “abandoning” the Voice.

“The government is chasing as many as one in four voters that it believes is soft or undecided in the leadup to Saturday’s vote,” Mr Clennell said. “But sources concede to me two out of three of those voters would have to go the way of the Yes campaign for it to be successful.”
