The Prime Minister revved up the Labor caucus room ahead of a budget praised for being the first surplus in 15 years.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers is set to reveal Australia’s first surplus in 15-years off the back of surging commodity prices and record low unemployment. “And tomorrow night, we will have $14.6 billion of cost of living relief targeted for those who need it most.” Allocations will also be made for the protection and conservation of areas of natural, cultural and historic significance across the country that “suffered from absolute neglect for a long period of time”.
