Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is “very optimistic” that Australia can find reconciliation and close the gap for Indigenous Australians.
“I think, overwhelmingly, Australians do want to see the gap closed between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians,” Mr Albanese said. “There is a new national awareness of the need to close the gap — we can’t continue to have an eight-year life expectancy gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.”
The Prime Minister clarified the need to address issues of education, health, housing and other areas of disadvantage.
