Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has paid tribute to the man who lost his life to a raging bushfire in Kempsey, urging Australians to heed the tragedy as a prelude to an “incredibly difficult” summer ahead.
Richard Mainey, 56, was found dead at his property in Temagog - about 30km west of the Mid North Coast NSW town – on Monday night, after flames ripped through the largely-agrarian locality.

And I pay tribute as well to the extraordinary… formal personnel whose job it is, but also all those volunteers who just do extraordinary work at this time.

Picture: NSW RFS As of Wednesday afternoon, NSW Rural Fire Service provided confirmation the fire was yet to be contained, with firefighters undertaking backburning operations in the vicinity to aid containment efforts.
