The Prime Minister has given an update on the timeframe for the Voice to Parliament referendum as he said Australians were facing a 'clear question' in response to criticism around a lack of detail.
Mr Albanese unveiled the draft wording of the Constitutional change at the Garma Festival in Arnhem Land, Northern Territory in July last year and on Friday said there was a"clear question" on recognition.
"They have already put out the principles which are there. And those include: no veto over legislation, it will not be a funding body, it will not run programs, it is an advisory body. The federal Nationals last November revealed the party's opposition to the Voice, while the federal Liberals have yet to commit to a position.
"Now, we're in a position where I believe very strongly that we're putting appropriate pressure on the government, which we wouldn't have been able to do had we just raced out of the blocks and declared a position without listening to all of the facts."
