Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia ’s independence, secured by its founding father and first Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj , must always be preserved to ensure that the country remains independent and sovereign.
This is in line with the government’s aspiration to create a Madani society that always respects each other, celebrates their diversity and helps one another to ensure that the everyone could live in peace and harmony. Anwar said this in his speech when opening the Commemoration of Statesman Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj at Bukit Jalil here today. His speech text was read out by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
Anwar also described the Father of Malaysia’s Independence as a visionary and forward-thinking leader with strong determination and high confidence.
