Trial basis operation of the Smartlane in this section will take effect from today, January 14 to February 1, 2025, Mondays to Fridays from 7am to 9am. As before, SmartLane activation means that the emergency lane on a given stretch of highway is open for use during designated periods of time to help smoothen the flow of traffic during times of congestion, such as rush hours periods or during festive seasons., or those under Class 1 which are private vehicles such as cars, SUVs and MPVs, motorcycles, as defined by the Malaysian highway authority . As such, trucks, lorries and buses are not permitted to use the lane.
