We are in the middle of a literal pandemic. It’s always true that everyone has their own personal host of struggles that we’re not privy to, but the pandemic has ramped up the stakes and we need to ramp up our compassion, not our judgment, in return.
This pandemic is going to show you who your real friends are. Pay attention to who reaches out and who disappears
Somehow, months later, I’m still seeing this attitude floating around in tweets, in snarky Facebook memes, in captions of wistful Instagram posts. And it’s making me want to tear my hair out. The last thing we need to do is add the insult of testing our friends to the injury of living through a pandemic., it’s hard not to notice who reaches out to you when you disappear into a depressive funk and who doesn’t seem to notice anything is wrong.
