Also known as the Plastic Bag 2.0 Campaign, it will start off with free distribution of reusable bags across the state to help the people in the transition to more sustainable practices. “The state government will provide a six-month grace period until Aug 31 to allow businesses and the public to familiarise themselves with the new regulations. Full enforcement starts Sept 1 onwards.”
Sundarajoo said the “Penang No Plastic Bags Every Day Campaign 2025” was more than just a policy; it was about fostering a culture of sustainability. “Local businesses are invaluable partners in this mission. I commend those who have embraced sustainable practices and urge others to join the initiative,” said Sundarajoo.
