Plants worth over RM600k destroyed during National Day parade, says DBKL

KUALA LUMPUR: More than half a million ringgit worth of decorative plants near Dataran Merdeka were damaged during the National Day parade on Wednesday (Aug 31).

Kuala Lumpur City Hall said plants worth an estimated RM620,000 were destroyed along Jalan Raja, Jalan Raja Laut and Jalan Tun Perak.

"The turnout on Aug 31 was extraordinarily high, and many landscape plants near Dataran Merdeka were destroyed. On Wednesday, several photos and a video showing people trampling on the plants went viral on social media. "However, there are those who were oblivious to their surroundings and did not care about its beauty of their surroundings."Th patriotic spirit was right, but not the way they chose to show it," said DBKL.
