Plans to help tackle Aussie bushfires get cabinet nod

THE cabinet today approved plans to send firefighters and rescuers to Australia to help tackle its bushfire crisis, said Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. The deputy prime minister said the mission, to be coordinated by two National Disaster Management Agency officers, will involve a 39-man team from the Fire and Rescue Department, 29 personnel from the Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team, and two Civil Defence Force members.
