PETALING JAYA: Following complaints about its recent elections, PKR will postpone its national congress to July 15-17, says central committee member Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid.
Abdullah Sani said this was a unanimous decision by the central committee after a lengthy meeting with its election committee at a hotel here on Thursday night.
The Kapar MP said the postponement of the congress was to allow a forensic audit of its unofficial election results released last week."There are many complaints and they have to be resolved before we have the national congress. "We will allow a forensic audit to investigate the complaints," Abdullah Sani told The Star on Friday .
He said Thursday's meeting involving party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and members of the central and election committees began at 8pm and ended at 1am."It was a serious affair. a panel of inquiry and complaints, as well as a panel on the forensic audit," he added. Former Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak had called for the congress to be postponed if the election results were not audited.
